Created in 2019 with the support of the European and International Cooperation Service of the Centre-Val de Loire Region, it now brings together French-speaking and Francophile amateur high school troupes from different countries, such as the Czech Republic of course, but also Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Tunisia and for the first time in 2024, Canada. These various troupes meet in Pardubice for three days , which are organized around the performance of the students' shows, round tables and artistic practice workshops. These highlights are enhanced by three evenings placed under the sign of the Francophonie and artistic exchange. On the first evening, the festival offers an "open stage" where participants can present, in a free form, what they wish to share with the other troupes. The second evening is made way for the professional show, proposed each year by the guest artist. And to close the festivities, a festive evening is organized to continue to encourage exchanges and celebrate the end of this human and artistic adventure. Thus, the Frankoscény not only offers young participants the opportunity to perform on a real theatre stage (East Bohemian Theatre), but also allows them to benefit from varied artistic training, through workshops led by professionals. Resolutely focused on Europe, the festival places the human and civic dimension at the heart of its project. They decide to leave the forest together to join the apple valley that their parents have designated for them as a haven of peace. There, the shooter in the straw hat will not be able to reach them, and maybe even the moon will show itself to shine again! But how can two children of six and eight years old find their way hidden by too many warpaths? And what if, from up there, between the stars and the rifle shots, an eagle tired of the chaos of the adults descended to dry their tears and take them under its wing? LITERARY MEETINGS For the first time, Literary Encounters took place at Frankoscény! These meetings with Lenka Horňáková Civade, a Czech and French-speaking writer and patron of the festival, were an opportunity for the students to discuss with her the richness of her work at the crossroads of two cultures and two languages, French and Czech, and to show them more concretely what learning French can bring them. They were also able to discuss with her the themes related to questions of translation and interpretation when one finds oneself caught up in language constraints. These rich and exciting exchanges delighted both the students and Lenka Horňáková-Civade. Presentation Created in 1986 by Éric Cénat, the Company is based in Orléans and affirms its artistic approach by giving it a line around words, those that give meaning and inscribe us in time and space. Thanks to them, we explore our past, understand our present and reflect on our future. "Memory and story" : Through a coherent choice of themes addressed and shows mounted, through the adaptation for the stage of non-theatrical texts (novels, interviews, press articles, poems, testimonies, letters...), the Théâtre de l'Imprévu wishes to meet these beings, who by their life and their destiny, are privileged witnesses of their times. Our shows thus tell this moment i-where life changes, where the individual reveals himself and where daily life is turned upside down. "Memory and song" : Musical theatre is a source of simple emotions, laughter, generosity, poetry, stage/hall intimacy, in short, pleasure. Pleasure for the actor and pleasure for the spectator. This specificity has also reinforced our desire for roaming. Roaming that has taken us from Parisian cabarets to the Avignon Festival, from village halls to national stages, from the villages and towns of our Centre Region to major European cities. The artistic approach Words are at the heart of our artistic approach. In a society where image takes precedence and rubs shoulders with the ephemeral, words give meaning and place us in time and space. Through them we explore our past, understand our present and reflect on our future. We look for words where they are found, where they serve emotion, thought and pleasure: Play, testimony, interview, novel, letter, poem, song, journalistic writing… On stage, the words then flow from our mouths. The Theatre of the Unexpected in the Czech Republic A European festival: the Frankoscény A national reading aloud competition Professional Franco-Czech creations French-speaking workshops and courses 16 years of friendship, meetings, and cooperation Theatrical creations in partnership with high school students The company Le Théâtre de l'Imprévu is based in Orléans, France, but its creations cross borders. Artistic director and stage director Éric Cénat has been setting up projects in the Czech Republic for sixteen years now. He works more particularly in the Pardubice region, within the framework of European cooperation between it and the French Centre-Val de Loire region. These international actions aim to offer a different approach to learning French, through theatre, with in particular the Frankoscény festival , and reading aloud .
